Thank you From: Ellwood [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 25 March 2004 10:55 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [ cf-dev ] k2 verity I have been using the k2 verity collection for a while now and it works fine. I get some excellent search results compared to my DB searches previously and it runs fine. The only thing to be wary of is the indexing each time you add a new document. Can take a while but once indexed it zips along quite merrily. Obviously the more load you put on it the better so at the very least have a 'searching' animation or something so your users know its actually doing something as most users don't notice the progress bar in the browser.
My advice, give it a go before forking out any more money. At the very least you will have the code in place if it turns out to be too clumsy for you and you have to go for the full blown jobbie. Nothing to lose trying it.

Hi, We are planning to use the k2 verity search engin that comes bundled with mx for a fairly large website. This website is in multiple languages (double byte char sets also) and content is databse driven. Has anyone used the k2 engine (one that comes bundled with mx) in this scenario? Would very much appreciate any tips or whether it is a good idea to go for the full version for large websites. any problems that I might need to consider (eg collections going bad). links to any further information to optimise search would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance, Sandeep |
