&I guess it could be done a lot more elegantly than this so if anyone s got any pointers& ??
Maybe the source of HTMLTidy would help, available from w3c.org. I used it as inspiration for some code in SpeckCMS. It's written in C, but you don't need to be a C programmer to figure out what the source code does (I have no C programming experience at all)
