> If the user closes the browser why doesn't the session variable die? If you're just using the standard settings in CF admin, the CFID and CFTOKEN are stored as cookies on the user's browser.
When you close the browser window, these cookies still persist, so the "session" is still available when they go back to the site, because the cookie values match an unexpired session on the CF server, as long as the timeout hasn't been reached (as set in either the cfapplication tag for your app or in the session variables default timeout length in CF admin). If you use the J2EE session variables setting in CF admin, the cookies that are stored are session cookies so if you close and reopen your browser window, you'll get a different session.
