You don't have to re-partition your device. Using MIC you can create
live USB images to boot your device from a USB key, or live CD images if
you have an external CD. You can use these to test Moblin without having
to modify anything on the device, other than perhaps setting the BIOS to
boot from USB.

If you want to re-partition your system then you could use a Gparted
live usb/cd such as http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php

No, the kernel can cope with as many partitions as you have without
modification.
