It's a 500GB disk.
In that case I guess it could be downloading then purging, or getting
flooded with requests. Either wouldn't require disk space.

Not much you can do about the latter (the requests will go down the wire
either way, even if the server does not respond), so basically about all
you can do is check on the former in this regard.
