The concern is not only availability of a given checkout, but self-hosting sources (at least GPL2). I think your propposal is awesome but it would need to provide sources to `makepkg --allsource` for instance. Also SRCBUILDs were implemented to create libre tarballs (patching freedom issues so you don't have to download the unfree sources) ;) -- D
