The bookmarks appear after turning the Bookmarks Toolbar off and then turning it back on it again. The bookmarks will also appear if I start Iceweasel with the Bookmarks Toolbar off, and then turn it on. The issue is reproducable with new and old profiles, and with all add-ons disabled.
