You will have more problems telling website-"admins" (which usually
don't know a bit of webserver administration) to change a PHP setting -
just for this subdirectory - been there, done that ;).
Well, the solution could be (haven't followed the thread, so I don't know
if it has already been posted) to add the php variable change in the
.htaccess of RC.
Even with this, we should keep on insisting on web site administrators to
have magic_quotes = off
