It sounds to me like suhosin's session encrypt might get in the way. We haven't figured out what exactly causes this yet and generally recommend to turn it off. Then I've downloaded the source from sourceforge and installed using the "http://host/round/installer"; page. After following the steps I've got no problems and it's logging in without errors. I've also did another test: i've dumped my main webmail server database and run the "upgrade.sh" script in order to test an upgrade and has worked also.
