Because Java 19 is not an LTS release. I believe that would be 23. And I
suspect
when Java 23 is released we will drop support for Java 8 and therefore the
release-2.x branch. Even if we don’t, if 3.x is released and targeted at
supporting
Java 11+ then that is the natural place to do it. I really doubt we’d be able
to
support virtual threads and Java 8 at the same time.
