not a global one.
I think we should just keep it simple. If you set maxBufferedDocs to 1000,
then every thread will flush at 1000 docs.
If you set maxThreadStates to 5, then you could at the same time in theory have
5000 docs in memory.
We just have to explain this in the javadocs. It's a change that we should
also mention in the backwards-compatibility section.
