I hit same issue today. The cause of the problem is xpath in
rss-data-config.xml doesn't match RSS feed. It seems rss-data-config.xml
expects RSS 0.9, but http://rss.slashdot.org/Slashdot/slashdot returns RSS 1.0
today.
