Mark Miller commented on SOLR-3619: ----------------------------------- bq. I'm asking if we want to include a minimal solrconfig.xml / schema.xml configuration that new users can use to setup their own index? Yes, we must if we are going to remove the default core / collection. It must be very simple to create one then. I think you should not even have to specify config in which case you get the default. {quote}I vote for a minimal solrconfig.xml and managed-schema; basically I would strip out all non-essential elements from the solrconfig.xml from the schema-less example for Solr's default config.{quote} Ideally, that is what I want as well. You either start solr with std minimal config (perhaps the schema just has dynamic fields defined) or in schemaless. Either one should be just as easy. Some stuff should probably be commented out to make it easy to enable, but a lot could go in a kitchen sink example or doc. bq. If so, where should that live? No strong preference. > Rename 'example' dir to 'server' and pull examples into an 'examples' > directory > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: SOLR-3619 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-3619 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Improvement > Reporter: Mark Miller > Assignee: Timothy Potter > Fix For: 4.9, 5.0 > > Attachments: SOLR-3619.patch, SOLR-3619.patch, server-name-layout.png > > -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.2#6252) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@lucene.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@lucene.apache.org
