FWIW: I haven't spent a lot of time looking at this patch, but from what i've
seen of the syntax for requesting percentiles, it seemed kind of cumbersome to
me.
I've opened a couple of issues (SOLR-6350 & SOLR-6351) which i think could give
us all the functionality described here -- plus a lot more flexibility through
a more general mechanism of computing stats per pivot.
I also think that in general, leveraging the "tdigest" library to do
distributed percentiles seems like better idea then reinventing the wheel
ourselves.
