Etsy has been running this patch in production for a little over a month now
successfully. One issue is that reloading the currency.xml file requires a full
core reload, which can cause live query performance to suffer. We're working on
adding a request handler to handle this instead of waiting for schema change
notifications for folks who need this optimization.
That said, the implementation appears correct, performance, and useful enough
for our needs. I'd like to see if there are any outstanding TODOs for this to
be seriously considered for inclusion into Solr.
