OK, just saw Grant's comment and that sparked....
IMO we shouldn't talk about cores at all, or at least mark them all as "expert"
and put them in a relatively obscure place. I've seen a _lot_ of confusion on
the lists and on site about the relationship between
cores/collections/shards/replicas/whatever.....
