bq. And yes, happy to do mdtext the Lucene files as well. Should those files be
moved under site/ or stay at the Lucene root?

You are talking about SYSTEM_REQUIREMENTS.txt? The original intention behind
this file was to give somebody extracting the ZIP a human readable txt file.
This was the reason for leaving it in root folder and have it the all-uppercase
name with ending txt. I am fine with moving the files and name them mdtext. My
primary intention is to have the assets/ folder in Lucene, too (which contains
logo). assets/ is much better than "html".

> {{solr/site/html/tutorial.html}} still exists in the source repository, and
> is still being included & linked in the published javadocs, and being
> mentioned in various README.txt files -- even though SOLR-6058 obsoleted this
> file with https://lucene.apache.org/solr/quickstart.html
> We either need to clean this file up, or update it to reflect reality (ie:
> {{bin/solr -e foo}} ... if we do remove it, we need to audit the various
> README.txt files and ensure they refer people to the correct place to find
> the "tutorial"
