Shawn Heisey commented on SOLR-5606:
------------------------------------
Requiring http methods other than GET will remove an option that currently sees
a lot of use -- typing the URLs into a browser. This is how I've created all
the collections that I currently have on my 4.2.1 SolrCloud install, and is one
of the things I really like about Solr's interface. Constructing requests with
POST, PUT, or DELETE currently requires additional tools and complexity. If
you're already writing code, it's usually no big deal, but there are Solr
admins who do not write code.
