That's exactly what I was going to do -- much in the spirit of this: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/lucene/java/trunk/trunk_development_moved.txt It makes a lot of sense and I do share your opinion it's helpful, I just didn't think to put this in the commit log, but redundancy here doesn't hurt. Also, I wouldn't be advocating for git so much if I wasn't *really* convinced it's a change for the better. I know it will be a pain for some people, especially at the beginning, but it's just such a more versatile tool to work with... For those who remember -- think of switching between CVS and SVN and you'll know what I mean. A whole different experience.
