Seems totally fine to me provided this blocking is limited to the particular 
resource being loaded -- what Guava gives you via this:

It's a shame you spent so long on that looong write-up; as I read I wanted to 
say, _just stop please, stop already, just go see 
CacheBuilder.build(CacheLoader)_ :-)
