Will McGinnis commented on SOLR-9497:
-------------------------------------
Exactly what I have done at work and at home. Same results. All the same Solr
6.2. Look at the stack trace. It is coming from Apache HttpClient, not Solr. I
only have one version of Solr on my laptop - Solr 6.2. I store everything else
on an external drive that is not connected, for backup purposes. I have tried
many things in code and consistently get the same basic result. It looks like
to me that the integration with Apache HttpClient may need more exploring.
If I am wrong, please explain a fix and I apologize.

> I have tried upgrading to httpclient-4.5.2. This appears to create the same
> problem. For now, I use this deprecated, connection code.
> return new HttpSolrClient(urlString, new SystemDefaultHttpClient());
> Eventually, this hangs the Solr server, because you run out of file handles.
> I suspect calling solrClient.close() is doing nothing.
> I tried not closing and using a static connection to Solr.
> This results in basically, the same problem of, eventually hanging the Solr
> server.
