Shalin Shekhar Mangar commented on SOLR-11037:
----------------------------------------------

Please no JNDI, we moved away from container specific ways of configuration for
a reason!

What is the reason behind not keeping this configuration in solr.xml? That
supports sysprop expansion so, if set, a sysprop will override solr.xml. It
will avoid proliferation of these methods in DirectoryFactory and
SolrResourceLoader.

> Add a method which returns the current solr.data.home directory without a
> CoreDescriptor argument

> It'd be nice to have a method which returns the current solr.data.home
> without needing to create a core descriptor first.
