[~ivera] I made a few straightforward changes to it and committed it, along 
with the RandomPlaneTest class.  I had to disable the polygon part of that test 
because of a different problem: the polygon constructor can't reliably find a 
point inside the polygon when the polygon is that small.  That will require 
another ticket.
