I don't think the Solr plugin ecosystem was considered in the choice to throw 
an AssertionError here (vs. perhaps a warning or make no  fuss).  IMO a Solr 
plugin that doesn't care about encryption at all should not have to concern 
itself with SSL/entropy.  Or am I being naive?
