[~krisden] - the way to check if this is still an issue would be to revert the 
previous  "workaround" commit that causes these leaked threads to be ignored in 
HDFS related tests if they still exist.

See {{public class BadHdfsThreadsFilter implements ThreadFilter}} ant the logic 
it contains, along with the various comments and linked issues.

we shouldn't be resolving this issue unles/untill we can confidently remove the 
logic that "ignores' those leaked threads.
