Just a status update: I finished reviewing and improving some code in the
package (on [~Tomoko Uchida]'s branch). I am very happy with the current state,
it works fine, all functionality seem to work. It builds fine. Eclipse also
opens it correctly (did not check the other IDEs). It passes precommit, license
files seem uptodate. We minimzed dependencies to only log4j2, configured inside
the application and logging to a panel in the app. During tests, log4j2 runs
without any config, so it suppresses logs. I minimzed changes to Lucene's
testing policy file, but IMHO, I will open a separate issue to allow for
Lucene/Solr modules to add some extra "opens" not applied to the basic policy
file. Solr currently has its own pone, but this can be unified now.
I also tested the GUI with Windows, some UI glitches are still there (150%
scale).
We will wait over the weekend and then merge the branch into Lucene master. I
think it should also go into 8.1 - any comments?
