Hi all,

Does anyone know of any benchmarks that've been done around
IndexWriter's "forceMergeDeletes" capability? Or have anecdotal
experience running it on large ( several hundred GB) indices?

I know it's an extremely "heavy" operation (and one that's
frowned-upon), but I wasn't sure whether the runtimes I'm seeing
(anywhere from 45 to 75m) were "normal", or whether there are
merge-policy settings or other tweaks that have big impacts here.

I'm using Lucene 9.11.1 in a Solr 9.7 cluster, if that impacts things
at all. Thanks in advance for any help or benchmark pointers.

Best,

Jason
