Hi Uwe, Since I was involved, along with others, in the design and discussion of the columnar API, I wanted to share my perspective as well.
The columnar indexing API is still relatively new and remains experimental. I backported it to branch_10x, and while I think it is in good shape, my view is that it would benefit from some real-world usage before we make it non-final.
