Yep.  Although we might not want it backported to 3x immediately.
And since it's a big enough change, we might want to evaluate our
options while we're at it (i.e. netty?)

Just to start with, right?  The request side of distrib search (i.e.
solr making sub-requests) is likely the only place where NIO will be a
win.
