I would be willing to work on this. 
I agree that running it on startup isn't so handy, but it would be useful to 
have this feature available in my opinion. I see this as a request handler. 
Furthermore, actually we have a backup command available on the replication 
handler, I guess it would be useful to add an option to check the backup at the 
end of the process.
Any thoughts?
