Thanks Robert.

I'm a developer based in Cambridge, UK, and have been working on search engines
for 10 years or so. Up until a couple of years ago I was mainly using
closed-source implementations, and discovering lucene/solr was a breath of
fresh air (you can see the code! you can fix bugs yourself!). After failing
to convince my employer to switch to open source, I decided to set out on my
own, and now work as a consultant specialising in search and monitoring
software.

I divide my time between being coding and looking after my two daughters, and
occasionally am allowed out to the pub.

Thanks for voting me on to the team - it's an honour and a privilege, and I
look forward to contributing as best I can.

Alan
