Kranti Parisa commented on SOLR-5507:
-------------------------------------

This is cool. I was thinking on the same stuff.

It would be awesome to add a section on the Admin UI to display the CUSTOM
INSTANCE INFO.
For example

Instance: INDEXER
Version/Release Number: 1.0.1
and more..

These values could be read from solrconfig.xml or so. Solr could be installed
as INDEXER (Master) and QUERYENGINE (Slave) on different data centers with
different versions in a typical production environment.

It would be nice to have a facility to write some custom info into
solrconfig.xml or so during the installation and that can be displayed right on
the Solr Admin UI.

> On the LSR in Dublin, i've talked again to [~upayavira] and this time we
> talked about Refactoring the existing UI - using AngularJS: providing (more,
> internal) structure and what not ;>
> He already started working on the Refactoring, so this is more a 'tracking'
> issue about the progress he/we do there.
> Will extend this issue with a bit more context & additional information, w/
> thoughts about the possible integration in the existing UI and more (:
