I'd like to second that - there are a lot of awesome people on the Mahout mailing lists with all sorts of different backgrounds. Chances are there are people among them who are better at answering your technological questions than your respective mentors. We tend to treat GSoC students not much different than regular contributors -- except you have a mentor who has dedicated time for encouraging you as well as showing you your way around at Mahout. So don't hesitate to use the mailing lists. Isabel
