No, this is not bikeshedding. Maybe you're not quite aware of the context... the issue here is not this one interface per se, which is just one class, but a larger question of whether collections can meaningfully stand alone. The fact that this trivial item is hard to fix is because of the split, and the split or merging back is not a trivial issue. I don't even see disagreement here...
