I’ve seen this come up on a lot of lists. I wonder if it needs clarified. 
Release policy says "Release votes SHOULD remain open for *at least* 72 hours” 
[1] (emphasis on 'at least' mine). So going longer is 100% OK, and going 
shorter could even be justified in weird circumstances (security issue?).

Also, I don’t think any smaller projects interpret not passing in 72 hours as 
meaning the vote failed.
