Ok, I hand merged the code from your contribution and checked it into the
branch. If you have time please make sure it still works.
I can see a number of issues that will need resolution before I'd be happy to
see the branch merged to trunk, but we can work on that over a bit more time.
Having the session expiration involve forcing a retry because of an exception
will show up in the history, for one thing, and will cause the job to stall for
minutes at a time. I am sure we can do better.
