Unfortunately, from what I understand, the effort is still ongoing. It has had some success, but not, so far, total success.
And, of course, until the final version is out, the group doing the work (who seem largely Red Hat employees) may still have to make adjustments once they succeed.
Still, it does seem the way to go.
