Keep in mind the amount of spin that SCO, MS and others have out there. Some of the magazines are active participants.

There was some commentary on ZDNet on that topic which pointed that articles and especially headlines are spun so that the sun rises and sets on Bill Gates. Specifically the InformationWeek article from 5 apr proclaimed little uptake for linux in small and medium sized businesses. However, the same data could also support the claim that MS could lose as much as 10% of its mid-sized business customers over the next three years in its best server market. Which is it? Both.

I wish I knew a quick solution, but try to negotiate influence over the headline at least. Many just read/hear the headlines and like to pretent then that they are well informed.

Louis,
I have been getting inquiries from someone on this

The OpenOffice.org Community is aware of this issue. It is Issue #46276. I really do not have any more information on this at this time. I have forwarded your message to more members of the Community in hopes of being able to offer you more information.

Just thought I'd "ping" you to see if there was any additional info. I
saw that eWeek had a few quotes from Louis Suarez-Potts. Maybe he'd be
available early tomorrow?

Thanks!

Zonker""""

I had been trying to get some additional information on it for him, but
was having trouble sending any email to the list and to Jacqueline McNally.
He is still interested in getting more information for an article he is
writing. Do you have anything more to add to this other than what was
decussed with Eweek?

James

Shouldn't a severe vulnerability notification have been sent to the
announce list? I mean, this is pretty serious.

We (I) were set to do that yesterday, then was informed by Martin
Hollmichel that the patch needed still to go through final QA. It will
be ready tomorrow, and we'll do the full honors--announce, homepage,
etc.
