Personally, I'd consider PIM and browser essential apps with the OS,
but they don't seem like a natural part of an office suite. One is a
communications toolset, one is a document creation and analysis set...
Of course, it's all semantics. You need both, regardless of how you
divide up what goes where.
I have communicated with Mozilla in the past, largely through their
SpreadFirefox.com site, and lots of members of their community are
interested in helping cross-market with OOo. If we built a concrete
plan, we could probably roll it out and achieve some measurable
results pretty quickly.

It's funny that Mozilla should be mentioned in this thread.
I should imagine an inclusion of a PIM & Browser be essential to a
forward-facing office suite.
Interoperability should be encouraged at the developer level too.
It's a good move for both.

Maybe this sort of approach could work for OOo?

There have been talks about doing cross marketing with Mozilla.
But so far
marekting project is not very fast on taking decisions. So this
ideas die
down with the time. Maybe it would be a good opportunity to re-
open talks
about it. We will put Firefox add's on strategic places on our
website and
expect the same from them.
Other people have even went into packaging Mozilla and OOo together:
