Hi all,
Still on the train back home, maybe it is too early for a balanced
evaluation. Nevertheless, a small report from my side.
Thanks to the efforts from mainly Jürgen Smidt, we had a booth and
DevRoom for OpenOffice.org with a little more then 10 people involved.
The number of people attending the DevRoom was, what I heard, a bit less
than last year. But the interest was good. For me it was interesting to
hear from Eric Bachard that the interest in the education project is at
such a level, that there is a stop atm – with people involved currently
it is not possible to give support to more people.
At the booth we had the great new T-shirts (nearly all 100 were sold),
and some older ones, and note-blocks, magic lights, caps and
café-de-Sophie ;-). Really attracting public "What does a cup of cofee
cost? " "Only 10 Euro, and the you get a t-shirt with it for free."
What was very good, apart from meeting the people from our project, was
the many people that visited our booth. Partly known people,
communication in many languages. Partly people that were new to us, and
had all kind of questions and often got help from someone of 'their own'
language group. I'm confident that many long lasting relationships
started this weekend.
Speaking for my own contacts: there were Dutch speaking people active or
seriously interested in education and extensions development,
translation issues.
One idea for improvement: our booth finished at 5 this afternoon. Most
people had left … but still there were visitors, developers around. So
maybe we can plan next year that some people stay longer (and maybe also
arrive later). We will have even better coverage then.
I very much enjoyed – regards,
Cor
