Others on the CC and I have asked the relevant people at Google and have not received a positive answer regarding OOo. The CC takes the GSoC opportunity (at least for some) quite seriously, and we will continue follow up.
BTW, last time was by no means a PR disaster, unless you look at the disaster being laid at Google's feet.
