That fixes the whitespace issue thanks, but unfortunately
CDATA sections are still screwed.

Eg:
  <source><![CDATA[
    <Connectors>
      <Connector scheme="rmi"/>
    </Connectors>]]>
  </source>

Becomes:
  <source><![CDATA[
    &lt;Connectors&gt;
      &lt;Connector scheme="rmi"&gt;
    &lt;/Connectors&gt;]]>
  </source>

And the HTML produced is:
  <div id="source">
    <pre>
       &amp;lt;Connectors&amp;gt;
  ....
