The template just uses the connection specified in the POM.

A later issue Maven-595 addresses this too

Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: MAVEN-437
Summary: cvs-usage.html developer CVS access instructions look wrong
       Type: Bug

     Status: Unassigned
   Priority: Minor

 Time Spent: Unknown
  Remaining: Unknown

    Project: maven
   Fix Fors:
             1.1
   Versions:
             1.0-beta-9

   Assignee:
   Reporter: robert burrell donkin

Description:
the instructions on http://maven.apache.org/cvs-usage.html (and for at least some
mavenized projects) detailing developer CVS access seem incorrect. they say:

"Only project developers can access the CVS tree via this method. SSH1 must be
installed on your client machine. Substitute name with the proper value. Enter your
site password when prompted.

export CVS_RSH=ssh
cvs -z3 -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/cvspublic co maven"

shouldn't this be standard CVS co rather than a pserver one?
