Key: MAVEN-601
Summary: Common Directory Layout - Missleading
Type: Improvement
Status: Closed
Priority: Minor
Resolution: FIXED
Time Spent: Unknown
Remaining: Unknown
Project: maven
Components:
documentation
Fix Fors:
1.0-rc1
Versions:
1.0-beta-10

Environment: maven.apache.org
Description:
Under Reference -> Project Layout
you find the following statement in the src/ column:
"Other projects may separate the code according to function (src/share, src/test,
src/rttest). It is highly recommended that sub-directories be used under src/."
As Maven POM does not support mutiple source directories the sentence is a little bit
missleading and results in a directory structure that is not supported by Maven.
I would change the sentence as follows:
"The separation into directories according to function (src/share, src/core, src/web)
is currently not supported by Maven."
As discussed in the User Mailinglist you could say that it will never be suported, but
I think this would be too hard...it would be nice if you could add a short description
why it is not supported.
Thanks.
Mirko
