Is there a reason extensions in ".mvn/extensions.xml" don't seem to support configuration?

Hi,


I just noticed that the extensions.xml doesn't seem to support configuring an 
extension. Is this intentional because it would break things or is it simply 
that none needed or implemented that functionality yet?
