+1 for the separation, but I prefer srcs instead of sources.

I recognize that you assume that the sources are in the same directory as
the binary jar. Therefore I wonder about the maven repository structure at
all, because I have noticed, that some have a structure like:

/-group
  /- jars
  /- sources

where the source jars are located in a separate dir. This is related to a
question I sent to the list some time ago
