Hi, John has been helping a lot with m2 but looking into JIRA you'll also see that he has contributing patches for a long time and is probably one of the first users of Maven outside of the original Turbine group. So in additional to providing a well tested replacement for Jelly, John also knows the maven1 core pretty well which makes him another good m1<->m2 bridge developer along with Brett and myself.
