I was asking about Apache mentoring program which is mentioned on the
community site. Is this practice still exists?
Having enough time, currently, I was thinking about contributing some
more complex feature in the project, if needed.

As far as I remember elharo@ wanted to set up something with GSOC. We
also mark tickets with the label 'up-for-grabs' which are easy to fix.
