No, those aren't just some dependency updates. It raises the baseline to a boldy reduced Doxia, removed thousands of lines of code. You should check the dependency releases what has actuall change.
For that reason I will review out two skins to make them properly run. Maven Site Plugin 3.x will remain production quality for quite some time.
