Sorry, I did not realize that the page was about maven-compiler-plugin
3.x. My comment was about compiler plugin 4.0-beta.

I do not get this error. I tested with both compiler plugin
3.15.1-SNAPSHOT and 4.0.0-beta-5-SNAPSHOT on Maven 4.0.0-SNAPSHOT. The
commit for this test said "workaround to jdk bug: assertion error from
javaxcompiler javax.tools API. Use plexus-compiler 2.11.0 to avoid jdk
bug". So this issue may depend on both the JDK and the plexus compiler
version used.
